Horsebox or Trailer, SEIB have it covered

After a 15 year involvement with the Trailblazers Championship, SEIB are delighted to be the new title sponsor.  The company has a strong ethos of putting something back into equestrian sport at grass roots level.

SEIB Insurance Brokers offers a wide range of equestrian policies to suit all needs, whether it be hacking, showing, or horsebox insurance.

Many of those attending the SEIB Trailblazers Championships will be owners of either a horsebox or a trailer.  Buying a means of transport for your horse is one of the major items of expenditure associated with keeping horses.

As with buying a horse, one of the first considerations for your transport is to make sure that you have adequate insurance cover in the event of loss, damage or breakdown.  As specialist equestrian brokers, we here at SEIB Insurance Brokers have many years experience in providing cover for horseboxes and trailers and give friendly and helpful advice to help you get the cover you want.

Breakdown cover is one of the valuable elements of vehicle insurance provided by SEIB, ensuring that both horses and people are transported home, or covered for hotel and livery fees should an overnight stay be unavoidable, in the event that the breakdown service is unable to get the vehicle going.  Breakdown cover on trailer insurance covers the designated towing vehicle even when the trailer is unhitched and includes home call out, should the vehicle breakdown at home. Travelling with horses can be fraught with difficulties and this cover provides peace of mind, especially if you are travelling with children or over long distances.

Fully comprehensive cover is essential for private horseboxes but there are several insurance options available depending on the age of the driver and any additional named drivers required.  Cover includes windscreens and accidental damage, even damage by horses.

Another valuable addition from SEIB is an HPI check on your potential horsebox purchase to check the vehicle’s true condition.  As the buyer you need to be as well informed as possible on the vehicle’s status and history, and SEIB will arrange for the HPI check to be carried out for a nominal £10 fee which is refunded when you take out the policy.  As more and more horse owners are driving 3.5t lorries, SEIB now offer a discount for these smaller boxes.

High value trailers can be accommodated and cover for a trailer includes loss or accidental damage and there are discounts available if the trailer is kept at home.  All trailers must be secured with a proprietary security device such as a hitch or ball lock or wheelclamp.
