Countrywide Highlight Importance of Protective Headgear

Leading equine specialist, Countrywide Farmers, is highlighting the importance of wearing protective headgear while riding.

Following new legislation which came into effect from the beginning of January, Countrywide, the UK’s largest equestrian supplier, is encouraging young riders, as well as those who are more experienced, to wear the correct safety equipment.

By law, children aged 14 or younger must wear a hat to specific safety standards, while riding on a road, but the new hat legislation introduced on January 1 will require people to get advice on the types of hat they have for their chosen discipline.

Sara Blackshaw, Product Manager at Countrywide, said: “As we head towards the start of another competition season many riders will need to be checking that the hat they own is still suitable to wear.

“It is essential that hats are professionally fitted to ensure the highest level of safety. If a riding hat is loose fitting it can inhibit vision and not protect the rider if they were to fall off. Safety is our priority and every sale of these goods will be made by a member of our team who is expertly trained to ensure riders of all ages buy the right piece of equipment for them.”

The leading supplier of products and services for the rural community is now offering three new styles of hats and a wider range of sizes on certain styles for the junior rider in its network of stores across the UK.
